The Salvation Army Making Food Baskets for 2,000 Families
Volunteers assembling the baskets Dec. 21 for Dec. 22 delivery
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – December 20, 2010 – Dozens of Twin Cities Salvation Army volunteers will assemble 2,000 food baskets Dec. 21 from 1–4 p.m. at The Salvation Army headquarters in Roseville, 2445 Prior Ave. N., as part of The Salvation Army’s “American Christmas Dinner” program. The funds to provide these meals were donated by Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre and his wife Deanna.
The baskets will be distributed to preregistered families in need at eight Twin Cities Salvation Army locations on Dec. 22 from 12–4 p.m.
Minnesota Lynx star Lindsey Whalen is scheduled to hand out baskets at Dec. 22 from 2–4 p.m. at the Payne Ave. Salvation Army in St. Paul, 1019 Payne Ave.
The Twin Cities Salvation Army serves more than 200,000 people a year through its 25 local centers of operation. Daily it serves 2,000 hot meals and shelters 850 people. More than 14,000 local volunteers help The Salvation Army provide a multitude of services, from child daycare to senior housing.
