$20 Bills Worth $100 at ‘Buck the Boot’ in Minneapolis Today
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – December 16, 2010 – The Deluxe Corp. Foundation will give The Salvation Army $100 for every $20 bill or $20 check donated during “Buck the Boot,” an annual event featuring Minneapolis firefighters who bell ring for The Salvation Army.
Buck the Boot will take place today from 11 a.m.–7 p.m. along Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, when dozens of firefighters will collect donations using firefighter boots instead of Salvation Army kettles.
Those who give more than $20 will have their gift matched by $100 for every $20 they give. A $60 donation, for example, would be good for $300 worth of matching funds.
The foundation has committed $10,000 to this 2nd annual matching effort.
“Last year we collected 87 $20 bills, enough for $8,700 in matching donations,” said Major Darryl Leedom, commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. “This year we’re shooting for 100 $20 bills in order to receive the full $10,000 match. A huge thank you to Deluxe Corp. for providing this matching opportunity again this year, and to Minneapolis firefighters for coming together for another year of Buck the Boot.”
