PRESS RELEASE
$20 Donations Worth $100 Tomorrow at
'Buck the Boot' in Minneapolis
Roseville, Minn. – December 15, 2011 – The Deluxe Corp. Foundation will give The Salvation Army $100 for every $20 bill or $20 check donated tomorrow during "Buck the Boot," an annual event featuring Minneapolis firefighters who bell ring for The Salvation Army.
Buck the Boot will be held Dec. 16 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. all along Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, where dozens of firefighters will collect donations in firefighter boots.
Those who donate more than $20 will have their gift matched by $100 for every $20 they give. A $60 donation, for example, would be good for $300 worth of matching funds.
The foundation has committed $10,000 to this 3rd annual matching effort, which last year raised nearly $21,000. The number of $20 donations given during Buck the Boot has more than doubled during the past two years, going from 87 in 2009 to 202 in 2010.
For added Christmas nostalgia, a Salvation Army brass band will be playing at the IDS Center from 12-1 p.m. and 4-5 p.m.
"A tremendous thank you to the Deluxe Corp. Foundation for this incredible matching opportunity and to Minneapolis firefighters for another wonderful year of Buck the Boot," said Major Jeff Strickler, Commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army.
