Roseville, Minn. – December 7, 2011 –REALTOR® Ring Day debuted last Christmas season with a few hundred Realtors® bell ringing in the Twin Cities, greater Minnesota and North Dakota. This year, thousands will bell ring nationwide.
REALTOR® Ring Day 2011 will be held Friday, Dec. 9 in 11 states, from Rhode Island to Hawaii. In the Twin Cities, about 175 Realtors® will spend 450 hours bell ringing at 100 of the metro area's 400 kettle locations.
Another 65 Realtors® will ring in 14 Minnesota cities: Albert Lea, Austin, Brainerd, Cloquet, Duluth, Fairmont, Fergus Falls, Hibbing, International Falls, Mankato, Rochester, St. Cloud, Virginia and Willmar.
In North Dakota, more than 100 Realtors® are scheduled to ring in nine cities: Bismarck, Devils Lake, Dickinson, Fargo, Grand Forks, Jamestown, Minot, Wahpeton/Breckenridge and Williston.
REALTOR® Ring Day was created to give real estate professionals an opportunity to support a cause that is dear to them: housing. Kettle donations support The Salvation Army's 50 emergency, temporary and permanent housing facilities in Minnesota and North Dakota, which provide nearly 370,000 nights of shelter per year. Nationally, The Salvation Army provides nearly 10 million nights of shelter per year.
"Last year's REALTOR® Ring Day helped raise nearly $190,000 worth of kettle donations in Minnesota alone and was one of the largest single-day volunteer efforts in Salvation Army history," said Lt. Col. Daniel Sjögren, Commander of The Salvation Army Northern Division. "This year's event is going to be bigger and better thanks to the giving spirit of Realtors® locally and nationwide. Because of their efforts, The Salvation Army can shelter more people in need."
