PRESS RELEASE
Duluth Salvation Army Serving Survivors of
Large Apartment Fire
DULUTH, Minn. – November 18, 2010 – The Salvation Army is providing critical support to survivors of a fire that destroyed the Kozy apartments in Duluth on Monday night and left dozens homeless.
Monetary donations are desperately needed to cover the costs associated with this relief effort. The Salvation Army will be helping survivors pay for temporary shelter and/or the upfront costs of a new residence. Currently, The Salvation Army is giving survivors food, shelter, clothing, hygiene kits and other support.
The Salvation Army has received many donations of food, clothing and other in-kind goods. Supplies are now well-stocked.
“For those who still wish to help fire survivors, the need now is financial,” said Envoy Alan Carlson, administrator of the Duluth Salvation Army. “Monetary donations will help us provide survivors with their specific and changing needs.”
Most of the in-kind donations received have been stored at the local Salvation Army thrift store. In-kind donations that go unused by fire survivors will still be used to serve others; the goods will be sold at the thrift store, which funds Salvation Army programs that help people in need.
Donations to the Duluth Salvation Army can be made online, by calling 800-SAL-ARMY or by mailing a check to 215 South 27th Ave. West, Duluth, MN 55806. Be sure to designate your donation “Duluth Apartment Fire.”
