ROSEVILLE, Minn. – November 10, 2011 Today all kettle donations made at Twin Cities metro area Cub Foods locations will be doubled with up to $10,000 in matching funds provided by Cub.

Salvation Army kettles are exclusively at Cub Foods locations today. Starting tomorrow, hundreds of other kettle locations will begin to spring up across the Twin Cities.

A Kettle Kickoff celebration was held last night at Cub Foods Knollwood in St. Louis Park, where the Twin Cities Salvation Army announced its record-breaking Christmas fundraising goal: $11.4 million.

“That is $2 million more than last year,” said Major Jeff Strickler, Commander of the Twin Cities Salvation Army. “It is a record-breaking amount that is needed to keep up with the record-breaking demand we are experiencing.”

During Kettle Kickoff, local volunteers signed up for just under 600 hours of bell ringing for the upcoming Christmas season. Starting Monday, nearly 110,000 hours of bell ringing will be available at 400 Twin Cities kettle sites. To learn more or sign up to bell ring, click here.
