Post-Flood Response in Southern MN
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Sept. 28, 2010 – Flood waters are beginning to recede in southern Minnesota, signaling The Salvation Army’s next phase of disaster assistance – recovery.
So far The Salvation Army has distributed 220 cleanup kits to residents with damaged homes or businesses. As residents continue to assess damage, The Salvation Army is ready to provide financial assistance for emergency needs as resources allow.
Volunteers aboard two Salvation Army mobile kitchens continue to provide meals, snacks and water to local residents and volunteers. To date, nearly 4,200 people have benefited from Salvation Army services, with food service reaching 2,100 hot meals and thousands of snacks.
The Salvation Army has been serving since Thursday, when five mobile kitchens from across Minnesota were deployed to southern Minnesota communities affected by flood waters that caused widespread damage.
